Work – and anxiety – pays off for South Merrimack Christian Academy Science Fair winners

Eyes drooping from lack of sleep, papers strewn across the table, data piling up and final touches on an extravagant poster board with glitter all over the room: These are just a few scenes that describe South Merrimack Christian Academy students before the Science Fair. Every year, SMCA holds the fair for 11th-, ninth and seventh-graders, who spend months working on their unique projects. Each student’s goal is to accurately display the results they discovered. Every student who participates in the Science Fair is required to attend. Although many students do it begrudgingly, they’re all secretly proud to be displaying their hard work for others to see.
