Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative Middle/High School participated in Red Ribbon Week from Oct. 22-26.
The week was devoted to drug awareness and prevention in middle schools across the country. Students are taught about the negative effects of drugs and how to avoid them.
Although itâs a national event, WLC put its own special twist on Red Ribbon Week.
Each day of the week, students in the high school and middle school dressed according to a theme.
Monday was Pajama Day, when students wore their pajamas and slippers to school.
Tuesday was Team Day, when students were encouraged to wear their favorite sports jersey.
Wednesday was Red Day, when students wore red and the staff wore white.
Thursday was Costume Day, when students wore Halloween costumes.
And Friday was Neon Day, when students dressed up with as many neon colors as they could.
On Wednesday, students and faculty participated in a special activity for Red Ribbon Week. On the baseball field, the students stood in a massive red ribbon and the staff stood in the shape of the letters âWLC.â A photographer in a helicopter then took an aerial picture.
âIt was great,â said Shannon OâDonnell, WLC middle school guidance counselor, who was the coordinator of the week.
âIt was work to get the students to cooperate for the picture, but it was worth it,â said Miski Villallobos, a senior who assisted OâDonnell in the planning.
In addition to the theme days, OâDonnell planned activities and presentations for the middle school students.
