Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative seniors Alfred Paglierani and Ramy Koudsi plan to have fun and be active this year.
The two decided to form an outing club at WLC. They want to call the group the Romp/Outing Club.
The clubâs activities would be inspired by an activity called âromping,â which is similar to other creative physical activities such as parkour and free running.
Parkour is an activity with a goal of getting from one point to another in the most efficient way possible, while free running involves doing whatever participants want, such as flips, hurdles or sliding in a defined area.
Websterâs Dictionary defines ârompingâ as âlively or boisterous play.â Paglierani has described romping as âunconstructed and creative physical activity.â
Paglierani said he created the name ârompingâ from an activity he had heard about when he was younger.
Participants have been in the process of making it an official school club since the start of this school year, particularly in trying to overcome some concerns.
âA main problem with the club forming is ensuring the safety of the participants,â said science teacher Nick Kovaliv, who was asked to be the faculty adviser for the club.
However, Paglierani said the group would be doing safe activities and nothing would be forced on the members.
Kovaliv said that when he was given the proposal, he suggested to Paglierani and Koudsi that the club be a general outing club rather than a romping club. He knew the school had been looking for an outing club for a few years.
Kovaliv said Paglierani and Koudsi need to answer some questions about a romping club before he could commit to being the adviser.
As a leading force for the club, Paglierani wants to get students to be more active and have fun. Koudsi said heâs optimistic the club will form and that this type of club serves a need at the school.
Kyle Magoon and Alfred Paglierani are seniors at Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative High School.
