With a new principal, Steven Beals, at Alvirne High School, some new traditions are being established.
One of these is Spirit Fridays. Every Friday, students are encouraged to show their Bronco pride by wearing Alvirne apparel or colors.
Wearing Bronco colors does add a feeling of unity and helps bring the school together. The idea has definitely been popular among the students.
âSpirit days are great for letting our teams know that we support them and make Fridays a lot more fun,â junior Meenal Goyal said.
Goyal also said it was a good reminder that divisions among the different classes werenât as important as the collective spirit of Alvirne.
Some students criticized the new tradition, however, saying it favors the senior class.
âIt isnât fair that not everyone has the chance to join in,â senior Joseph Ryan said.
His logic was that spirit days were most popular among the seniors, all of whom receive senior T-shirts. Juniors, sophomores and freshmen, however, donât receive class T-shirts.
Even though the younger students donât receive class T-shirts, they still have many ways to show Bronco pride, such as wearing maroon and gold or even supporting the school by buying Alvirne apparel at the school store.
