Program at Adult Learning Center in Nashua prepares students for college

NASHUA – The Adult Learning Center will offer a free 15-week college-preparation program, “Get Ready for College,” beginning Wednesday, Aug. 22. The program is open to people who have been out of high school for several years and those who have a GED. The course is designed to refresh academic skills so students are able to save time and money by qualifying for credit courses rather than remedial courses. Students take career interest, ability and value tests to help them determine a career path. There is intense academic preparation in math, reading and writing, as well as instruction in the use of the computer for research. Students also become familiar with the admissions process and how to apply for financial aid. The program includes a tour of Nashua Community College, as well as visits from program alumni who have enrolled in college.
