A new military charity is coming to Nashua.
It is being started by business leaders Sy Mahfuz, Tom Tessier and Mike Slater, who are building a board of directors.
The group will be called the Veterans Count Club.
Right now, there is a Veterans Count Club in Manchester and it is attached to Easter Seals. The new group will be based in Nashua and some surrounding towns.
The unique characteristics of the Veterans Count Club is a partnership between the New Hampshire National Guard, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, the Easter Seals and New Hampshire business and private sectors.
Slater gave a substantial donation to start the group; Mahfuz is owner of Persian Rugs in Nashua and a veteran; and Tessier is a Vietnam veteran and a businessman in Nashua.
Several weeks ago, Mahfuz called and asked if I would help with the new group.
