As has been the annual tradition, the Hollis Brookine Rotary Club awarded scholarships to graduating Hollis Brookline High School seniors who were recognized for academic achievement, community involvement, leadership, extracurricular activities and personal achievement. This year, due to the increased response from qualified applicants, the Rotary Club has increased the number of scholarships awarded from five to eight; each awarded $1,000.
The recipients of the Hollis Brookline Rotary Club student scholarship for this year are Bailie de Lacy, Rachel Duprez, Felicia Lavery, Felicia Lombardi, Gwynne Noel, Laura Schmidt, Taylor Skilling and Isabel Starr.
The Rotary Club Chairman of the Excellence in Education Committee Krishna Mangipudi was at hand to personally congratulate the winners and hand them their awards. Representatives of the Hollis Brookline Rotary Club Dick Miller, Venu Rao, high school Principal and Rotarian Cindy Matt were also on hand at the June 14 annual Awards Night.
In his address to students, Rotarian Mangipudi spoke about Rotary International and its mission of service to local and international communities.
