Auditions planned in Milford for YouTheatre’s ‘Jungle Book’

MILFORD – YouTheatre will hold auditions for “Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS” this weekend. The auditions will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, June 3, and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, June 4, at the Amato Center for the Performing Arts at the Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley, 56 Mont Vernon St. Auditions are open to ages 8-14. YouTheatre started at the end of the 2007 school year, when a small group of high school students were looking for a community service project to get involved with over the summer. They decided to start their own by producing, directing and choreographing a musical with middle school students as actors. Their first show was “How to Eat Like a Child” in August 2007 at the Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley in Milford. After their first two years, some of the younger students who had performed in earlier shows formed an apprentice program to help the production team. Since then, the group was established as YouTheatre (www.youtheatrenh.org). The group set up a program that has allowed several students to work their way up from actor to apprentice to being part of the production team.
