The Campbell High School Student Council hosted the Central District spring meeting on April 4. The theme was “Sports Olympics.” Members of the student councils from Pinkerton and Pembroke academies and Londonderry, Manchester West and Goffstown high schools attended the event, with a total of 71 students. The purpose of holding a spring meeting is for the schools to elect a district president, vice president, secretary and historian and for the students to plan activities that involve team building. The meeting started at 3:30 p.m., and each student randomly received a tag with a country’s flag. They received a warm welcome from Campbell Principal Robert Manseau and Student Council President Nicki Cordingley, who spoke about the schedule of the meeting. After the introduction, the students were assigned to other people wearing the same country as they had on their tags. This followed the theme, as the students were randomly assigned to a team with students from other schools who they didn’t really know. This was a great lesson to every student, giving them the opportunity to use teamwork. The different countries faced each other in a series of games of cracker pingpong, dodgeball and Jenga and an egg spoon race. Cracker pingpong received the most giggles, as the object of the game is to get on one side of a table facing your opponent and put as many Ritz crackers as possible in your mouth, then try to blow a pingpong ball from the center of the table off the opponent’s side. Jenga was the most exciting game, with each being very close.
