Nashua High School North has always prided itself on the quality and variety of its academic organizations.
The recent excellence of the North Model United Nations team in its participation at the Boston University Model U.N. Conference is no exception.
The conference, held in late February, saw several North students take away a variety of awards â and an experience they will remember fondly.
Model United Nations clubs are held in high schools and colleges around the country. These clubs educate their members about global events and give them an opportunity to participate in an academic simulation of global diplomacy.
Nashua Northâs club, advised by social studies teacher Mabel Brown, has participated in a number of Model United Nations competitions. This year at the Boston University conference, North students were the recipients of quite a few awards.
Junior Priyanka Satpute was awarded Outstanding Delegate in the United Nations for the Commission of the Status of Women, while senior Joseph Juknievich was recognized with an award for Verbal Accommodation for Press Corps.
Sophomore Laura Forrest was recognized for Verbal Accommodation for the United Nations Development Program, and junior Meghan Dezurick was named Honorable Delegate in the Non-Government Forum.
âMy experience at BosMUN was incredible,â Dezurick said.
