Campbell High School students have been in the process of making their course selections for next year. The guidance office extended the advisory period so that counselors could meet with each class. They informed students how many credits they were required to have, and what classes they were required to take in order to move on to the next grade. There is a set number of credits each student needs to complete each year in order to obtain the required 24 credits to graduate. In each of the first three years, students are required to complete seven credits in order to move on the next year. Current juniors, who are choosing classes for their senior year, are only required to have six credits in their final year, making sure they exceed the required number of credits for graduation. The six also ensure that athletes are taking the number of courses needed each semester to be eligible to play in any sport. The meetings also helped inform students of certain classes that the school was no longer offering next year, as well as new courses that had been added to the curriculum. One of the new courses is Daily AP Calculus, which provides students with two credits instead of just one because it’s held daily. Also, a popular up-and-coming class is RAD, which stands for Rape Aggression Defense, a new girls self-defense course.
