Four Hollis Brookline High School students and two teachers woke up before most people at 6 a.m. Saturday to take a journey that many will never experience.
It began with a flight to Washington, D.C., and then on to China.
For two weeks, these students will immerse themselves in a foreign culture and learn all they can about this different country. Juniors Jenna Hyatt, Maddy Snow, Grant Johnson and Tim Udelsman were selected to join eight students from Merrimack High School on this amazing trip, and they couldnât be more excited to start.
âI think it will be an eye-opening experience for sure,â Hyatt said, âand I canât wait to taste the culture, literally and figuratively.â
Joining them from HB will be social studies teacher Rob Huckins and science teacher Catherine Orzech.
âThe idea of going to a country most people will never get to travel to really makes this trip special,â Huckins said.
The first week will be spent at Tanggu, the No. 3 school in China that majors in world languages.
