NASHUA â Seven members of Nashuaâs Venture Crew 261, a Boy Scout group sponsored by St. Patrick Church, enjoyed a winter hike on North Pack Monadnock recently.
This Crew is preparing for tackling some of the 4,000-footers in New Hampshire this year and challenged themselves with a winter outing.
Hiking and climbing in winter exacerbates any difficulties someone might have by challenging the hiker to carry more gear and to test themselves more by adding snow, ice, slippery trails and cold weather to the mix.
The group successfully ascended North Pack via the Wopack Trail and enjoyed a break and lunch at the top. Along the way, they enjoyed the great views and took some pictures, as well as did some geocaching.
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game.
