The Nashua High School North and South recipients of the ACE award were recognized at a dinner at Nashua Country Club on Feb. 20. The Accepting the Challenge of Excellence award, sponsored by the Exchange Club of Nashua, was given to North senior Cooper Doucette and South student Wander Diaz. The purpose of the award is to recognize students who have overcome “great physical, emotional or social obstacles,” according to the National Exchange Club. Guidance counselors and administrators from North and South chose these students because of their ability to maintain academic excellence while facing challenges in their life. Doucette was paralyzed from the waist down in August 2010 from a spinal chord injury he suffered during football practice.
