While most students at Nashua High School South have to sit in a classroom for a 90-minute block, some students spend a block in a different type of classroom.
Nashua South is one of eight Career Technical Education schools in New Hampshire.
The school has many CTE programs, such as health sciences and video production. One of the most unique CTE programs is Careers in Education. This two-year program allows juniors and seniors to gain knowledge and real-life experience in child development.âThe course is typically taken by students who are interested in pursuing careers working with children such as early childhood educator; elementary, middle or high school teachers; guidance counselor; speech language pathologist; or an occupational therapist,â said Judith Loftus, Careers in Education 2 teacher.
During the first year of the program, students work at the preschool at South, Purple Panther Preschool. In the second year, students learn about elementary school-age kids.
