If one passes Bishop Guertin High School’s music room during the school day, one is likely to hear the harmonies and lyrics of lovable Christmas carols. After school, the band plays dynamically, and the trills of flutes, bold melodies of trumpets and steady bass drum can be heard radiating down the staircase and into the hallway. Even those waiting for the bus after school are likely to hear the jazz band practicing. Last week was no exception. On Thursday, the band and choir performed the annual Bishop Guertin Winter Concert at the school. In previous years, the concert featured selections from nostalgic Christmas films such as “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and instrumental favorites such as “Sleigh Ride,” which traditionally featured  Principal Linda Brodeur in the percussion section. “I always really looked forward to the winter concert, especially playing ‘Sleigh Ride’ annually,” said alumnus Bill Hallahan, who now plays for Holy Cross College.
