Nashua High School Northâs National Honor Society chapter inducted its newest members during a ceremony in the schoolâs auditorium on Tuesday.
NHS recognizes outstanding students both inside and outside the classroom and presents them with various community service opportunities.
Seniors and juniors at North were selected based on excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and character. There were 74 students inducted at the ceremony, for which much of the auditorium was filled.âIt was fantastic to see so many parents come to support their students who achieved the honor of being inducted into NHS,â said the NHS president, senior Sabrina Subron. âIt was truly a great experience for not only us as officers, but for those being inducted as they received their well-deserved recognition.â
The ceremony opened with speeches from Principal David Ryan and Nashua Community College President Lucille Jordan. Speeches by Subron, Vice President Olivia Powell, Secretary Melody Miller and Treasurer Luis Perez followed.
âI thought that inductions ran smoothly and the speakers showed that the National Honor Society is reaching out to more students in the Titan community who fulfill the four qualities of the NHS who wish to achieve great success in the future,â Perez said.
This year, the NHS is starting a mentor and mentee program in which each new member will be paired with a returning member.
