For students at Nashua High School North, Tuesdayâs election was one of immense interest.
Some students became active in the campaign, while others debated with their classmates on a variety of political issues.
But students in Northâs AP Government & Politics class found that the election was an opportunity to learn more about the electoral process while educating others.
On Nov. 1, North held a mock election open to students and faculty alike. The ballot included choices for the presidential, congressional and gubernatorial races, as well as a series of questions that polled students on the issues that mattered to them.
Teachers were able to schedule class appointments in the North media center where the mock election was taking place, an opportunity that was taken by many classes.
Senior Meghan Dezurick, a member of the AP Government class, was involved in running the mock election. She said she felt that the mock election was largely a success.
âThis isnât the first time weâve done a mock election; they did it for the last election, as well,â Dezurick said.
