Souhegan High School hosted a Meet the Candidates forum for local politicians on Oct. 18. The Community Council moderated the forum, asking questions and timing each candidate’s stage time. It was a perfect opportunity for kids and community members to hear, meet and understand their neighbors who are running for different positions in Concord. “I thought the forum provided a chance not only for the candidates to express their passions and opinions to the public, but also for the community to see how experiential learning contributes positively to Souhegan’s curriculum,” said senior Hannah Dean, a Community Council member. However, attendance wasn’t high, especially among students. “I wasn’t even aware of it,” junior Adi Mueller said. “Nobody really said anything about it, and I wasn’t sure what was going to be going on there. There weren’t really any announcements about it during school, either.” Nevertheless, the forum seemed to be a success for those who did attend.
