NASHUA â Nashua Lodge of Elks 720 honored Boy Scout Troop 261âs newest Eagle Scout, Samuel David Irwin, at his Court of Honor at First Baptist Church in April.
The presentation included a framed Elks American flag, which Elk members receive when theyâre initiated, and an Elks Eagle Scout certificate from the Grand Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Irwinâs project was building a 12- by 12-foot cement block shed addition at the church. The churchâs original cement shed was 12 by 18 feet.
The ground was excavated to 3.5 feet below ground level. Cement footings were constructed and a cement block foundation was built. Three cement block walls were constructed, with an exterior double door added to one wall.
A new roof was built over the addition, and shingles were added to the original and new roof.
The shed walls were painted white.
Irwin contributed 228 hours, and 64 volunteers added another 708 hours to complete the project.
