Jewett has been a Litchfield icon for six decades

LITCHFIELD – Few people know Litchfield as well as Pat Jewett does, and that’s probably because she has been involved in almost every facet of the town for more than 60 years. Jewett moved to town in 1950, when Litchfield had just 335 residents, and it wasn’t long before she was invited to be a part of what’s now known as the Conservation Commission. From there, Jewett helped plan the annual Memorial Day program and was soon volunteering for her children’s school PTO. “The PTO had the first food sale for a group in Litchfield to raise money,” Jewett said. “We had it at Bradlees in Nashua and made $88, which was quite a bit of money back then.” She remained active while each of her four children – Jack, Nancy, Karen and Keith – was in school, serving as PTO president and officer. In fact, it was pretty much a given that anything her kids did meant Jewett and her husband, Will, would also lend a hand. When her children became interested in sports, Jewett joined the recreation committee and coached baseball, volleyball and softball.Image may be NSFW.
