BEDFORD â The fourth annual MOMS Club of Bedford Easter Egg Hunt on March 31 raised more than $9,500 for the Our Promise to Nicholas Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Batten disease.
Batten is a fatal neurodegenerative disease afflicting several local children, including 8-year-old Nicholas Dainiak, of Bedford.
âWe are thrilled with this yearâs event turnout and proud to raise much needed funds for the Our Promise to Nicholas Foundation,â said Kristen Lande, vice president of the MOMS Club of Bedford. â⦠We nearly tripled last yearâs proceedsâ of $3,500.
More than 750 people attended the fundraiser at the New Hampshire Sportsplex, where children hunted for colorful, treat-filled eggs, had faces painted, took part in games, saw demonstrations by the Bedford Martial Arts Studio and were entertained by Kricky the Clown.
The Easter Bunny and Manchester Monarchsâ mascot, Max, also made appearances.
âAll of the kids who attended had a great time,â Lande said, âand hopefully, our communityâs continued donations will one day help the Dainiaks and OPTN find a cure for Batten disease.â
Many local businesses sponsored the event and hosted tables, including the Sportsplex, IRA Lexus, Catholic Medical Center, NiNi Bambini, Fitness Authority/CrossFit Bedford, My Gym Childrenâs Fitness Center, WoodPlay of New Hampshire and Ameriprise Financial.
