NASHUA – Greek Independence Day was celebrated in Nashua on March 24. Parishioners from St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church gathered at Hellenic Circle to honor the Greek men who fought in Greek wars. The crowd then walked to City Hall, where Alderman Brian McCarthy read a proclamation and members of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association helped raise the Greek flag. On March 25, hundreds of thousands of Greeks around the world celebrate the independence of Greece in 1821 from the 400-year Ottoman Empire rule.
