WINDHAM â More than 100 high school students from New Hampshire, Main and Vermont competed at the NorâEaster Bowl Ocean Sciences Competition at the University of Maine in Orono in February.
This competition provides a forum for high school students who excel in math and science to receive recognition for their commitment to studying ocean sciences and broaden their understanding of ocean-related biology, geology, geography, chemistry and policy.
Windham High School entered two teams, composed of Kevin Dolan, Andrew Sun, Maria Bressette, Eric Liddy, Joey Fredrico, Steve Goulas, Kate Farrell, Steven Brandt, Andrew Lewis and Marcela Trocha. They were coached by Bethany Bernasconi (New Hampshire Science Teacher of the Year) and Christy Johnson.
The teams took seventh out of 20 teams.
For participating, Windham won an interpretive kayak trip at the Great Bay Estuarine Research Reserve. The trip is sponsored by the Great Bay Discovery Center in Greenland.
