NCA students start their week with worship

As the first bell rings on Monday morning, Nashua Christian Academy students enter their homerooms, talking to their friends excitedly, recounting their weekend’s events. After the second bell, many students begin to sit down in their seats for class, only to remember that they don’t have class that period. This year, NCA has chapel first thing on Monday morning. In previous years, it had been held at the end of the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some students prefer the Monday morning chapels, while others liked having it at the end of the day. “I did like having it at the end of the day,” senior Larissa Callery said, “but I don’t mind having it in the morning. It’s a nice comeback from the weekend, and you don’t have to jump right back into school.” “It’s nice to be able to start off the week with,” junior Rachel Bourgeois said. However, not all students prefer the morning chapels. “I like it better at the end of the day because I focus better,” senior Christine Eldredge said. Chapels usually consist of a few songs led by the worship team, a message from a teacher or guest speaker and a time when students can break up and pray with and for one another. This year the worship team is larger than it has been in previous years. The students on the team are: Seniors David Wainaina and Elyse Zagorites. Juniors Kevin Lizotte, Tim Scott and Breanne Wallace. n Sophomores Nathan Brown, Simon Gosselin, Audrey Jacoby, Ally Misiag, Hailey Moore and Joshua Ware. n Freshmen Jessie Jacoby, Lindsey Luna, Nathalia Nunes, Joel Pelletier and Noah Penkacik. These students play a plethora of instruments, including drums, bongos, ukulele, banjo, guitar, bass and violin. The worship team is led by Micah Groder, who also teaches these students in two worship classes on the other days of the week. “I love the way he teaches,” Wallace said.
