Grant supports Nashua Center
NASHUA â The Nashua Center, a human-services agency founded in 1974, recently received an $8,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.
The funds will be used to provide staff development and training for programs, including:
The Childrenâs Pyramid â Early intervention services for children birth to 3.
Jobs Etc. â A vocational day program for adults with developmental or acquired disabilities.
Residential Services â Residential options for children and adults with developmental disabilities or acquired brain disorders.
Classic In-Home Care â In-home companion care for elder and chronically ill adults.
These programs provide services to more than 500 individuals every year.
âThe state mandates that employees attend trainings, but the number of hours per professional per year has already been cut in half and is not sufficient for us to achieve the level of service we aim to provide,â said Brian Young, executive director of the Nashua Center. âIn recent years due mainly to state budget cuts, it has become increasingly more difficult for the Nashua Center to send our employees to additional trainings.
âMany of our clients represent a vulnerable population of individuals that require total care, and they deserve the right to have highly skilled caregivers providing their services with knowledge, confidence and precision.
