To the Editor:
On behalf of the board of directors, The PLUS Company would like to thank the supporters of our 22nd annual Wild Irish Breakfast, including the sponsors, event speakers and community members who attended the breakfast and purchased tickets to our raffle.
With their assistance, we raised over $72,000 to support the educational programs offered to the 350 adults with intellectual disabilities being served by The PLUS Company.
While our agency works diligently to apply for grants to subsidize government funding, events such as this support activities including work skills, recreational and life skills programs.
The PLUS Company provides vocational, residential, community supports and transitional services that allow adults with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential and become vital, productive members of our communities.
Clients can be seen working in the private sector; participating in public speaking classes and literacy programs; attending college enrichment programs; using computers; traveling; leading and contributing in peer-led groups; attending activities at the YMCA; participating in music and art therapy, yoga and dance programs; participating in Special Olympics; learning to cook; and maintaining parks and downtown areas.
Our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities and maximize their independence. We encourage those we serve to live well-rounded, stimulating lives, and events such as the Wild Irish Breakfast provide us the means to fund those opportunities.
