NASHUA â Boy Scout Troop 19 recently participated in the Klondike Derby, an annual competition held by the local districts of the Boy Scouts of America.
The derby is held during the winter and is based on the heritage of the Klondike Gold Rush.
Groups of Scouts compete together and pull their gear in homemade dogsleds from station to station. At each station, theyâre given a task or problem to solve and are judged on leadership, teamwork and knowledge of outdoor skills.
The Arrowhead District, which includes Greater Nashua, held the competition at the Lone Pine Hunting Club in Hollis.
Four of the 21 teams that competed for the revolving trophy were from Troop 19. The Patriot Patrol won, and the other patrols took home second, fourth and eighth place overall.
Pilgrim Church also sponsors Cub Scout Pack 19, which won the Cub Scout portion of the Klondike Derby, as well.
The troop and pack meet at Pilgrim Church, 4 Watson St.
