NASHUA â January is often a time to try to take better care of ourselves and focus on the food we eat.
Some younger members of the community will participate in a cooking class called âSuperSnacks for Super Kidsâ on Saturday. It will provide 26 matches from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua and Greater Salem an opportunity to learn to cook simple meals and make good nutritious choices.
âCooking is a skill we can give our Littles that can never be taken away, will sustain them for a lifetime and will allow them to be creative beyond their imagination,â said Melissa Goerbig-Frizzell, chief operating officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua and Greater Salem.
âOur Littles can share this experience again and again with their Bigs, leading to many wonderful creative cooking experiences in the future.â
The class will be presented by Liz Barbour, of Hollis, the creator and chef of The Creative Feast, who specializes in cooking demonstrations and instruction. Her favorite thing about cooking is knowing that what she cooks will be healthy for her family.
âMy husband and kids know how to eat well because healthy food has always been a part of our lives and our family discussions,â Barbour said. âThat education, that understanding of healthy choices, is what I give to them.
