Moving from eighth grade to freshman year in high school is a big step for all of the incoming freshmen at Bishop Guertin High School. Bishop Guertin takes extra steps to ensure the new students feel welcome and familiar with their new environment. After the completion of these programs, the timid, anxious freshmen are transformed to eager, motivated members of the BG community. Accepted Students Night is a way for incoming freshmen to be thoroughly welcomed into the BG family. Students of all groups, sports teams and clubs came together in February to welcome the Class of 2017. More than 150 incoming freshmen joined together to meet new classmates, learned the ins and outs of BG, and meet some of the current students, teachers and administrators. Multiple BG students volunteered two hours of their time to show the new students what it’s like to be a BG student and to give tours of the school. “Volunteering at Accepted Students Night brought back many memories,” senior Nicole Pettiglio said.
