Merrimack church youths fast to help those less fortunate

MERRIMACK – The youths of St. John Neumann Church will participate in a 30-hour fast on Friday-Saturday, March 8-9, to raise awareness and funds for local nonprofit agencies that help those who are less fortunate. The Fast for Social Action helps make participants more aware of social injustices and educates them on the needs of our neighbors. The fast encourages youths to make a positive difference in the world, starting with their own communities. Over the last 16 years, the fast has had more than 1,200 participants who have raised more than $265,000. During the last nine years, the church’s stewardship program has donated an additional $27,900 for a grand total of more than $293,244, all of which has been donated to local nonprofit agencies. More than 53 nonprofit agencies have been beneficiaries of the fast.
