Milford special education program wins January Sanford grant

MILFORD – Sanford Temperature Control announced that Milford’s Special Education Extended School Year Program is the first recipient of its Community Commitment Program. The program will receive a donation of $500. The money will benefit the Summer Challenge program. During January, customers and community members were invited to visit the Sanford website to nominate and then vote for one of the nominees. “We wanted to continue this program for the summer of 2013,” said Johanna Johnson, director of Special Services of Milford, “but we are not able to use budgeted funds for this type of activity. Consequently, we began our search for a donation. Sanford’s Community Commitment provided us with (the money to buy) this year’s prize. “We are very grateful to Sanford for this opportunity.” The program initiated a summer challenge last year to Milford resident families with a child enrolled in ESY.
