Matt Bashalany, a 1999 graduate of Nashua High School, is running the 2012 Boston Marathon with the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge, which is raising money to benefit the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Bashalany aims to raise at least $5,400 by the marathon on April 16. A full 100 percent of the funds raised benefit the Barr Program at Dana-Farber. Based on a rigorous and highly selective process, the Barr Program funds the brightest, most creative scientists making basic research discoveries that are transforming cancer treatment. Barr investigators have made numerous major breakthroughs resulting in improved survival rates and quality of life for thousands of patients everywhere.
