The Bishop Guertin High School National Honor Society will attend the state NHS Charity Ball at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester on Saturday.
While this semiformal dance has been held previously, Bishop Guertin has never participated before.
The Charity Ball is a chance for the National Honor Societies at New Hampshireâs high schools to give back to the community. All proceeds will be donated to various state charities.
In addition, attendees are strongly encouraged to bring used electronics and empty ink cartridges; the National Honor Society will recycle them to help promote a healthier environment.
The ball isnât limited to NHS members. Other high school students are encouraged to come, as well.
âI think the Charity Ball will be completely different than regular school events because it will have a unique aspect of not knowing everyone,â said Olivia Crane, vice president of BGâs chapter of the National Honor Society. âIt provides an opportunity to meet new people and form relationships that can be extremely beneficial in the future.â
The Charity Ball has an added significance for BG students beyond meeting new people.
âTraditionally, we havenât taken the NHS outside of BG, even though weâre a national society,â said Latin teacher Daniel Gioffre, the moderator of BGâs chapter.
