At 11 a.m. on New Yearâs Day, a group will gather at 1663 Columbia Road in South Boston behind the Curley Community Center.
Wearing white gloves, white hats and black-and-white bathing suits, these brave folks will do a little dance and then run straight into Boston Harbor to raise funds for The Weber Foundation of Helping Handâs Inc.
Among this group of volunteer Splash Angels, who will be Freezing for a Reason, is Tammy Moskowitz, a Nashua businesswoman committed to helping people live better lives.
Moskowitz has participated in many past fundraising events for the foundation, started by her friend and business associate Elizabeth Weber.
âEach year, they pick a new theme,â Moskowitz said. âLast year, we had the Black & White Ball.â
However, this year, the personal stakes are a little bit higher given the unpleasant idea of a mid-winter dip in the Atlantic.
