NASHUA â The Indian Association of New Hampshire, through its high school youth group, helps cook and serve lunch at the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter on the third Sunday of every month.
In November, the students who volunteered were Anu Rao, Anudeep Gavini, Natasha Kumar, Pooja Welling and Srivatsan Senthilkumar. They were helped by IANH members Akhil Parambath, Deepa Mangalat, Nagendra Bhanu, Pushpavalli Gopalakrishnan, Rajany Akil, Sneha Jacob and Venu Rao. The lunch was sponsored by the Gopalakrishnan family.
At 8:30 a.m., the group began the preparations for a hot meal consisting of spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread and garden salad. Chocolate chip cookies were offered for dessert, and coffee, milk, fruit juice and water were available.
Sixty-six people were served, and all of them were appreciative of the lunch â so much so that more than 100 plates were served, with many going for seconds.
The volunteers closed the facility at 2 p.m.
