Nashua North principal to be celebrity bartender to benefit BBBS

BEDFORD – Nashua High School North Principal David Ryan will appear at Celebrity Bartender Night at Shorty’s Mexican Roadhouse in Bedford on Thursday. Fifteen percent of the food and beverages sold in the bar from 6-10 p.m. will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua & Greater Salem. Ryan is the 2012 New Hampshire High School Principal of the Year and one of three NASSP/MetLife National High School Principal of the Year finalists. He said one of his favorite jobs was as a line cook in the kitchen of the Bedford Shorty’s, where he started building lifelong skills that led to a position as kitchen manager for Legal Sea Foods in Boston while in between teaching jobs. “I am looking forward to returning to a former employer where I learned a lot about relationship building, leadership, organization and especially fun,” Ryan said. “These are the crossover skills educators rely on when working in schools, and I am thankful I had the opportunity to gain them while working with Shorty’s. “The night will be fun and the cause is significant.
