Souhegan High School juniors spent November participating in the One Million Bones project.
Across the country, schools and individuals have been making âbonesâ out of clay and newspaper to be sent to Washington, D.C., where 1 million will be laid out on the National Mall in June. The project is to raise awareness of genocides and other atrocities taking place across the world.
Junior world studies teacher Rachel Belmont, the New Hampshire coordinator for the project, brought it to Souhegan during her classâs âManâs Inhumanity to Manâ unit.
âIn June, while I was looking for teaching jobs and new summer employment, I came across a Craigslist ad for the project,â Belmont said. âIt immediately resonated with me as something I wanted to do.
