Souhegan participates in One Million Bones project

Souhegan High School juniors spent November participating in the One Million Bones project. Across the country, schools and individuals have been making “bones” out of clay and newspaper to be sent to Washington, D.C., where 1 million will be laid out on the National Mall in June. The project is to raise awareness of genocides and other atrocities taking place across the world. Junior world studies teacher Rachel Belmont, the New Hampshire coordinator for the project, brought it to Souhegan during her class’s “Man’s Inhumanity to Man” unit. “In June, while I was looking for teaching jobs and new summer employment, I came across a Craigslist ad for the project,” Belmont said. “It immediately resonated with me as something I wanted to do.
