Campbell High School began its competition with the elementary and middle schools in the district beginning Nov. 13 to see which school could raise the most canned food and other nonperishable items in one week. At the start, the elementary school took a huge lead and pulled away quickly. With the help of many clubs at the school – including CAL, or Campbell Athletic Leaders – the high school was able to gain some ground and put up a good fight. With the school led by computer teacher Shawn McDonough and the Student Council, many people contributed to the annual drive. Even though it’s considered a competition among the three schools, all of the items they collect benefit needy families through the Litchfield Food Pantry. To keep track of who’s leading the competition, the elementary and middle schools have giant charts hanging up in the cafeterias.
