Balfour sets high standard at Hollis Brookline High School

Two hundred and 74 wins. Six appearances in the finals. Four titles won. Those are just a few words to describe the incredible results inspired by the coach of the Hollis Brookline High School girls volleyball team, Becky Balfour, also known as “Balf.” Balfour has been a dedicated social studies teacher and volleyball coach at Hollis Brookline for 13 years. The team was in Division II until three years ago, and now the team is in Division I – and last year, the team brought home Hollis Brookline’s first Division I title. Balfour’s long and rewarding volleyball career started in college, where she fell in love with the sport by playing on recreation teams. When she graduated from college and started her teaching career, she started playing on adult teams. She now coaches multiple teams, including the Hollis Brookline varsity  and the program known as Latitude 42.
