Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative Middle/High School has a  new set of community service coordinators this year. Sharon Coffey and Judi Wing replaced seventh-grade social studies teacher Michael Dring and high school English teacher Dolores Neilan. Dring gave up the position last spring. He resigned because of his upcoming sabbatical. “I am leaving for half the year starting in January,” Dring said. “It didn’t really make much sense to hold this position for only half a year.” Neilan also resigned last spring. “I started doing it seven years ago because I think that it is important for students to be involved in their community,” Neilan said. However, she needed additional time to complete her work on a doctorate. “I couldn’t do it all at the same time,” she said. Coffey is the guidance secretary at WLC. She was interested in the position of community service coordinator because it fit with her other duties. Coffey said community service is important for college applications and will help students throughout their lives. “This job is fun,” she said.
