NASHUA – The Nashua Historical Society has created Adopt an Artifact, a new effort to obtain sponsors for the conservation and preservation of items in its collection that are considered to be “Nashua gems.” The program will be unveiled at the society’s meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The topic is “Adventures in Preservation,” given by Bill Veillette, executive director of the Northeast Document Conservation Center in Andover, Mass., and former executive director of the New Hampshire Historical Society. Each month, Adopt an Artifact will highlight one article with important ties to Nashua, but which needs preservation efforts to prevent further deterioration. Conservation will be done by an expert. Sponsorships to pay for conservation may be pledged by an individual, family, organization or business.
