Adam Lavergne had a mission to help others in need, and he leaves a lasting legacy of caring, encouragement and inspiration.
Lavergne is The Telegraphâs Nashua Hero Living Spirit for his efforts to help the mentally ill at Harbor Homes, an organization that aids the homeless, focusing on those with psychological disorders and substance-abuse problems. Lavergne received 14 nominations.
At 49 years old, Lavergneâs journey was cut short when he died unexpectedly of a heart attack while jogging in August 2011.
Lavergne was assistant director of the Shelter and Care Program at Harbor Homes on Maple Street in Nashua. He specialized in assisting those with severe and persistent mental disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and Aspergerâs disorder.
âAdam could work with the most difficult person,â Katie Merrill, program manager, said.
